so guys, i am doing a dopamine detox for.......1 day which is tomorrow. i won't be using my phone for a freaking whole day. i have never stayed away from my devices for this. but i am determined to do this i will either study or do nothing wish me luck

If it wasn't already, the world's biggest anime piracy streaming website, HiAnime, is now officially on the U.S. government's radar following a new report by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPA). Via Torrent Freak, the MPA has sent its overview of "notorious piracy markets," which includes sites and services believed to be among the worst offenders outside the United States of facilitating piracy, to the U.S. government. The sites listed included notorious piracy sites "hianime.to" and "animeflv.net." According to Similarweb's latest data, the former is the biggest anime piracy site in the world and the 194th biggest site generally from June to August, with a whopping 209.5 million visits over the same period. This is nearly double Crunchyroll's web platform, with the U.S. responsible for the greatest share of Hianime's traffic with 36.34%. "Animeflv.net" is slightly smaller but by no means insignificant, with 96.4 million visits from June to August. Excluding Spain in first place, its main users hail from Latin America; Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Argentina make up the rest of the top five.

Because there are no legal options to watch your favorite shows in your country? 5. Because fuck the streaming companies that revoke your license to the content you paid for due to corporate shenanigans beyond your control? 6. Are you an anti-DRM extremist? 7. You just like free shit, even if you can afford to pay? 8. Some other reason I haven't listed here? For me, it's a combination of 2, 3, and 5, and 6. I'm happy to pay because I can afford to. I don't pirate stuff because I want free shit, per se. I don't judge people who do, though. I do it because I want to OWN what I paid for. I would gladly subscribe to a legal streaming service if they let me download high quality, DRM-free copies of everything I watched, and wouldn't region-lock content. Every season, I actually earmark two or three shows to buy on bluray. I'm not perfect but I usually follow through when the bluray eventually comes out. It feels good to support the creators and get your favorite shows in full bluray quality. And there's no way for the streaming companies to (R)etroactively (A)mended (P)urchase (E)xperience you and remotely disable the blurays you bought like they can for digital purchases. Fuck streaming companies.
