Itachi killed his clan just to protect his brother. He killed other kids and didn't give a **** about them. He was powerful enough to just kill danzo and take the reins in his hand and become hokage and be neutral to both uchiha and the leaf. And work for the beterment of everyone. Instead he choses the other route.



Well I guess it was retcon to make itachi hero otherwise it doesn't make sense
